# 1: Working with project files created under an earlier version of USC COCOMO II.
Q: I have loaded a project (*.est) file into USC COCOMO II that was created under an earlier version of USC COCOMO II. The model parameter values from that earlier version of the tool also seemed to have been loaded along with my project data. To run my project data using the calibrated parameter values in my current version of USC COCOMO II, do I have to reenter all my project data by hand?
A: No. After loading your old project file, click on "Parameters" from the menu selection bar at the top of the main USC COCOMO II window. Then click "reset" at the bottom of the Parameters pull-down menu. The software will now run your project data against the calibrated parameter values supplied with your current version of USC COCOMO II.
# 2: Activities and/or project phases that are in or out of the scope of the estimates provided directly by COCOMO II.
Q: What activities and project phases are covered by COCOMO II?
A: Activites and phases covered by COCOMO II are as shown in the tables below. If an activity is listed as being outside the scope of COCOMO II, that means that the estimated values for effort and schedule provided as direct output of the model DO NOT include that activity within those estimates. However, in the distribution tables below, we do provide suggested percentages that can be applied to the values provided directly out of the COCOMO model to determine an estimate for those activities that lie out of the formal scope of the model. The Waterfall and MBASE model percentages add up to 100% for those activities within the scope of the model. The additional percentages suggested for activities outside the scope of the model explain why the totals for those models exceed 100%:
