Please remember to bring your parking ticket for validation

Abstract for Leo Hoffman

Advances in the state of the art of information technology applications has allowed the free exchange of process assets to a broader personnel base, and contributed to the ease of use of the assets. No longer are we constrained to use the standards which are gathering dust on our bookshelves, but we now have ready access to them on the desktop computer-and the latest versions as well. This presentation covers the scope, assets, tools, process and pitfalls that the Data Systems Division encountered when constructing their web-based Process Asset Library (PAL).

Biography

Leo Hoffman is a senior member of the technical staff at Litton's Data Systems division in Agoura Hills, CA. His current position is Training Coordinator for the Division's Software Process Improvement initiative in the Software Engineering Process Group, and he is the author of their web-based Process Asset Library. Leo has worked in the defense industry for the past 35 years. He transitioned to computers and software over 30 years ago, and has been a computer programmer, analyst and manager. His background is in radar, C3I, artificial intelligence, and communication. He has received numerous awards and a patent for his contributions to Research and Development.

Abstract for Deborah Bayles

Extranets are soaring because they facilitate a seamless flow of information and commerce among employees, suppliers and customers. Going far beyond the Internet, e-mail and conventional intranets, Extranets provide fast, reliable, secure, and low-cost computer-to-computer communication for a wide range of applications-everything from sales, marketing, fulfillment, online publishing, and customer service, to product development, directory and database services, employee communications, workgroup projects, and electronic commerce. This program is designed to educate senior management about the strategic issues involved in setting up and conducting business through an extranet. Whether you have already deployed an extranet or are just thinking about it, you will benefit from this presentation.

Biography

Deborah Bayles is President and CEO of NETouch Communications, Inc., an extranet systems integration company that enables businesses to build virtual distribution channels and conduct secure electronic commerce worldwide.
Bayles has been in the software industry since 1978, and founded NETouch in 1994. She is on the Board of Directors of the Software Council of Southern California, and is active in SO/CAL/TEN. Bayles' book, Extranets: Building the Business-to-Business Web, was published in January 1998 by Prentice Hall, Professional Technical Reference division.
