CSCI 590: Summer Directed Research - CPT in Software Engineering
Summer 2001
This summer directed research program is an opportunity for students in software engineering to supplement their academic education with practical experience in a way that stimulates in-depth comparison of the two experiences. The Center of Software Engineering are sponsoring a program that includes up to 3 units of summer DR credit, a stardard-form DR report, due August 17 (the day that CPT intern assignments end), and a presentation at a Software Engineering Experience Workshop at USC August 23-24. This will include 10-minute slots for each CPT intern, supplemented by presentations form selected interns' managers and alumni from last year.
This activity is open to anyone doing a software intensive summer internship, although it will be easier to do for students having taken CS 577 MBASE core course. This course is focused on enabling students to understand and apply these new software engineering approaches. Its learning objectives are to enable students to understand the principles underlying Model-Based Architecting and Software Engineering (MBASE); to master the use of tools supporting the new approaches; and to apply the tools and principles on real-client team projects. MBASE involves the integration of a software system or product line's success models, product models, process models, and property models.
