Summer Directed Research Draft Report for CPT in Software Engineering

Due to Monday, 6 August 2001

DR Draft Report should cover the following topics:

1) Company and Project Overview: This topic should be 90% complete.

2) Three (roughly) most significant software product engineering challenges and insights: identify the current top 4 and write a short description about each one.

3) Three (roughly) most significant software process engineering challanges and insights: identify the current top 4 and write a short description about each one.

4) A comparison of the company's software engineering principles and practices with their MBASE counterparts taught at USC: identify 3 principles and practices and provide a comparison between them & MBASE.

5) Identification of all MBASE Model clashes that you have encountered during your current work. You may review http://sunset.usc.edu/publications/TECHRPTS/1999/usccse99-523/usccse99-523.pdf to have an idea of what is needed.

A good report from last year is given as an example (DR Report) It has a slightly different organization, but its content provides a good model for emulation. Students who have not taken CS 577 can learn about the MBASE approach via web sites for CS 577a and CS 577b, and in general at http://sunset.usc.edu/research/MBASE. Some of this materials is listed in Reading List.

If you have any questions about the DR report, then send e-mail to csci590@scf.usc.edu
