CSCI 577c: CSE/CST Internship Program
Summer 2001
This is an internship follow-on to the Software Engineering sequence, which forms the core of the Master of Science in Computer Science with specialization in Software Engineering. Software Engineering I focuses on software plans, processes, requirements and architectures. Software Engineering II focuses on software product creation, integration, test and maintenance with an emphasis on quality software production. Software Engineering III focuses on extended transition for the projects that are seemed worthy of additional in content. Much of the content is organized around the key practices in the SEI Integrated Capability Maturity Model (CMMI).
The course projects for this semester will involve the development of digital library applications to be used in the USC Library System, and related applications or support tools. Student teams defined the requirements for and prototyped the applications in CSCI 577a. Selection of those projects is continued in second semester and even fewer are continued in this third, internship-oriented semester. Students will be fully implementing projects involving multimedia archives, selective dissemination of information, facility scheduling, and data capture, etc. The systems will be developed in conjunction with library personnel, and delivered to the USC Information Services Division or USC-CSE for full-time usage and maintenance.
