Please make your assignment paper-based and hand in exactly at 9:00am. Homework submitted prior to this or after 9:05am will not be accepted.

This assignment is to help you familiarize yourself with the MDM (specifically ClearCase). You will be adding updated artifacts into an RLCA directory in your team’s project directory tree.  Accounts and initial directory tree structures will be created after teams have been formed and projects have been assigned.

-----------------------

Login Procedure

1. Specify login name which is your scf login name and password is your student id in xxx-xx-xxxx format (include all - ). In the first login, the system may require you to change password.

2. Specify domain, which is cse-class0

-----------------------

The directory tree will be constructed as follows:

ProjectName

      |

      --RLCA

         |

         --OCD

         |  |

         |  ocd.doc

         |

   --SSRD

   |  |

   |  ssrd.doc

   |

   --SSAD

   |   |

   |   ssad.doc

   |

   --LCP

   |   |

   |   lcp.doc

   |

   --FRD

       |

       frd.doc

1.        When the teams are formed, decide among your team members which artifact each of you will responsible for updating.

2.        Login to MDM at http://cse-class.usc.edu/ccase/bin/ccweb.exe (using Internet Explorer if possible) with the name and password assigned to you.  Specify the local working directory and new view name(first time) when prompted.  The next screen is the VOB View; click on the “Include all VOBs” Radio button to display the VOBs.  The directory structure has been created for you.  Using the hyperlinks, navigate to the RLCA and artifact directory in your team’s project directory.

3.        Recall from the lecture that in order to add files to ClearCase, you must replicate an identical directory structure on your hard drive.  For example, if you were going to add the LCP artifact, you would need to create the following directory structure on your hard drive.

<drive-letter>:\workdir

                  |

ProjectName

      |

      --RLCA

         |

   --LCP

       |

       lcp.doc

Read the Help file in the ClearCase WebClient if you need to refresh your memory.

4.        Click on the Add button.  ClearCase will search your working directory and show a dialog box of files it can add.  If you don’t see your file listed, something is not right with your directory structure.  Fix it and try again.

5.        Select the correct file and click on OK.  ClearCase will add the file.  Click OK again when the add transaction is complete.

6.        On the next screen (called My Checkouts), you will notice that the file you just added and all of its parent directories are checked out.  (They have a red check on the box next to the filename.)  If you don’t check the files and directories back in, your team mates will not be able to add their files.

7.        Check them in by selecting all of the elements shown and then click on the Checkin button.

8.        After you have completed the Checkin, navigate to the directory where you uploaded the file and select that file (check the box next to it).  Then click on the Properties button.  From the Properties page, click on the History Button.  Print out the History page from Internet Explorer and turn that in.
