Background:
The USC Moving Image Archive holds original materials for USC student and staff productions dating back to the 1940s. This rich collection has been meticulously cataloged, and there is a growing interest in using shots from the older films in new productions.

Problem:
Among other services, the USC Moving Image Archive provides licensing for student film clips. We are hoping to expand this service by making clips from the films accessible electronically. Ideally we would like a system that links these clips with our existing database. We will also need to figure out an arrangement for digitizing the clips from either film or
analog video.
