Tutorial G Strategies for XML Telemetry and Command Exchange (XTCE)

Overview This tutorial focuses on what, why and where for using XML Telemetry and Command Exchange (XTCE) compliant databases. The instructors will share strategies and lessons learned for using the XTCE specification and dive into the technical details for developers. Attendees are also welcome to discuss their current XTCE implementation issues.

Biographies Kevin Rice is involved with OMG and CCSDS XTCE efforts since its inception in 2000, co-authored the XTCE OMG specification, and the various CCSDS books, including the blue book, the green book and upcoming magenta books.

Gerry Simon is a Systems Engineering manager for Kratos Technology & Training Solutions (KTTS) Integral Systems. Gerry first presented XML as a Spacecraft database Spacecraft Ground System Database Interchange technology at GSAW in 2000. Gerry worked with industry and government partners within the OMG and CCSDS to advance this idea from concept to completion - now known as XTCE. Gerry chaired the OMG XTCE finalization task force. Gerry has a masters in computer engineering, 20+ years in aerospace and is known to enjoy German music played by lederhosen wearing accordion players.

What Participants Should Expect to Learn The instructors will share strategies and lessons learned for using the XTCE specification and dive into the technical details for developers.
Who Should Attend Managers or other interested parties that want to learn about the high level aspects of XTCE, and Satellite engineers and software engineers that are currently implementing or plan to implement XTCE. Some knowledge of XML schemas may be helpful for the technical portion.
